What would you do if your mother was crying?
Wipe away her tears
Wrap her tightly
Try to protect her from the world?

What would you do if your mother couldn’t cry?
Her eyes were dusty
Ducts filled with thick, oily liquid
And she coughed up a green, acrid vomit?

Surely you would see her pain
Would you not cry for her in her distress?
Worriedly rush to her
Wrap her in your arms
And find out how to help her?

What will you do when the earth can’t cry?
Rivers turned to dust
Toxic, inky waters
And bright green rubbish flowing past your feet?

Surely you would see her pain
Would you not cry for her in her distress?
Sacrifice even a little for your mother?
You owe your life to her
